Spare iPhone 4 Parts for the Home Button Stay Home

Spare iPhone 4 Parts for the Home Button Stay Home

With an iPhone, the only mechanical control you’ll see every time is the Home button. The rest has been integrated into the touch system, from sending a message to taking a snapshot. While there’s a setting that lets you push Home via touch tech, the button itself raises an interesting question. Why isn’t it a touch button like the rest of the phone?

As long as the home button remains on the exterior, replacement parts for iPhone 4 will include spares for these. More often than not, the button tends to go haywire after countless pushes. Some believe Apple should start designing future gadgets sans the Home button, but Apple argues that users will need it. Here are opinions of tech experts on why the Home button isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The Home button is every Apple device’s “eject” button, explains Rene Ritchie, editor-in-chief of IMore.com. If apps fail and hang the system, users will have that reliable button to bail them out of the sticky situation. An on-screen Home button provided by assistive touch may not work if the app isn’t responding.

Ritchie writes that a Home button, as with any good interface, must be able to reduce user stress. Hitting Home instantly brings the user back to the main menu, bypassing the frozen app and relieving him of stress and panic, and putting him back in business.

Tech editor and writer Craig Grannell writes, “Anyone designing a device where they replace an important hardware button with a capacitive button needs a solid kick in the head.” Keeping the vital Home button off the touch screen eliminates the risk of accidentally brushing against it while in the middle of an important task, and inadvertently losing current data.

For Matthew Panzarino, managing editor of The Next Web, the problem with capacitive buttons is knowing where to find them. He tried relying solely on the buttons, only to go back to Home button by default. Users immediately know where the Home button is.

Hence, by unanimous decision, the Home button stays, and so do the spare parts offered by shops like WickedTronics.com. It’s unlikely for Apple to stop producing Home button parts for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. If it disappears, then users will lose a friend they can rely on when their gadgets act up. Apple, for one, doesn’t want that.
